FAQ
Choosing a city for your internship
Which Spanish cities have the most internship openings?
Madrid and Barcelona lead by volume across every sector; Valencia and Málaga follow with a strong tech and startup pipeline. For hospitality, the coastal hubs — Palma, Marbella, Ibiza and the Canary Islands — post the highest number of seasonal roles.
Do smaller cities offer real internships or only tourism jobs?
Yes, they do. Bilbao is an industrial and fintech hub, Zaragoza has strong logistics and automotive companies, Salamanca and Granada host research and education placements, and Vigo and La Coruña anchor the Galician tech and marine sectors.
Can I split my internship between two cities?
Not usually. Convenios de prácticas are signed with one host company at one address, so switching cities mid-stay means a new agreement. If you want to experience two regions, plan two consecutive short placements or add a Spanish course in the second city.
Which cities are best for English speakers?
Málaga, Barcelona and Madrid have the highest concentration of international teams where English is the working language. In smaller cities, expect to need at least Spanish B1 for day-to-day work outside IT roles.
