Why a city-based placement

Choosing your destination first — not just the role — means your internship fits your language level, budget and lifestyle. It's also how host companies plan onboarding and housing referrals.

Popular fields by city

Marketing and IT concentrate in Madrid and Barcelona. Tourism dominates the coast and islands. Education and Spanish teaching roles are strongest in Salamanca, Seville and Granada. Engineering clusters in Bilbao, Zaragoza and Valencia.

Erasmus+ friendly

Every city page supports Erasmus+ mobilities. We're a partner since 2009 and handle the paperwork with your sending institution.

For students

Pick two or three cities that fit your field and Spanish level. Our advisors shortlist hosts, prep your CV in Spanish format and coach you through the interview.

For universities & VET schools

Plan Erasmus+ and group mobilities city by city. We match sectors to your programme, coordinate with your international office and monitor the placement end-to-end.

For host companies

Receive pre-screened international interns in marketing, IT, tourism or teaching. We handle the training agreement and follow-up so your team focuses on the work.

FAQ

City-based internships, answered

What is an internship placement by city?

A city-based internship placement matches a student with a host company in a specific destination, taking into account the local industry mix, language of work, cost of living and travel logistics. Spain Internship arranges the host company, the training agreement (convenio de prácticas) and the on-arrival support so students can focus on the experience itself.

Which Spanish cities are best for international internships?

Madrid and Barcelona lead by volume across marketing, IT and business. Valencia, Málaga and Seville are strong all-rounders with lower costs. Bilbao is a good choice for engineering and fintech. Coastal destinations — Palma, Marbella, Ibiza, Tenerife and the Costa del Sol — are the go-to for tourism and hospitality placements.

How do I choose the right internship destination?

Start from your field: pick a city with a real industry cluster in your specialisation. Then filter by language (English-friendly workplaces are easier in Madrid, Barcelona and Málaga), budget (Andalusian cities are 20–30% cheaper than Madrid) and lifestyle (coast, mountains, big-city buzz or historic old town). Our advisors can shortlist two or three cities for your profile.

How does Spain Internship support Erasmus+ placements?

We are an Erasmus+ partner since 2009. For universities and VET schools we handle host-company sourcing, Learning Agreement inputs, monitoring during the mobility and the final evaluation. Group mobilities and individual Erasmus+ placements are both supported across every city we operate in.

Can universities organise group internships in a specific city?

Yes. Our custom group internship service designs a full mobility around one city — accommodation, Spanish course, cultural programme and a cohort of matched host companies — for groups from vocational schools and universities.

Can companies host international interns through Spain Internship?

Yes. Host companies get a pre-screened candidate pipeline (marketing, IT, tourism, teaching), the training agreement paperwork and follow-up. There is no cost for the host company under standard Erasmus+ and private internship agreements.
