How It All Started
The story of Spain Internship began in 2009, in the vibrant Andalusian city of Seville—a place that perfectly embodies what we stand for: cultural exchange, personal growth, and opportunity.
Back then, international mobility was a growing dream, but the process of finding internships in Spain was still complex and fragmented. Universities lacked reliable host partners. Students were left to navigate visa paperwork, language barriers, and legal uncertainties on their own. Companies, on the other hand, were interested in hosting interns but didn’t know how to access international talent or how to do it legally.
That gap sparked an idea.
“What if we could simplify the process for everyone—students, institutions, and companies—while making internships a real bridge between education and experience?”
Our founder, after experiencing the challenges of mobility firsthand, recognised the need for a trustworthy, student-focused, and legally compliant internship service. One that wouldn’t just connect people, but guide them. A service grounded in transparency, human support, and a deep understanding of Spanish legal and cultural systems.
Armed with that mission, Spain Internship was launched—with just a laptop, a list of local companies, and a belief that international internships could (and should) be more accessible.
From Local Roots to International Reach
What started as a small project helping Erasmus+ students from a few European universities soon turned into a full-scale mobility network. Word spread fast—thanks to our approach, fast support, and real results.
By 2012, Spain Internship had established partnerships with universities across Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland, placing students in companies all over Spain—from startups in Barcelona to hotels in the Canary Islands.
As demand grew, so did our services:
- We added visa assistance for non-EU students.
- We built our recruitment platform.
- We developed custom group mobility programs for schools and VET centres.
And we never stopped listening to what students and partners needed.
A New Chapter with Piktalent
In 2023, Spain Internship became part of the Piktalent, an international mobility network operating across Europe and Latin America. This step allowed us to scale globally while preserving our DNA:
