U.S. States for Summer Work and Travel Program in the USA

We offer opportunities across the United States, but some states stand out as the most popular destinations for international students, interns, and trainees. Each state has its own career strengths, cultural highlights, and lifestyle benefits.

Here are some of the main U.S. states where our programs take place:

California – Tech hub (Silicon Valley), Hollywood, diverse economy, and cultural influence.
New York - Finance (Wall Street), culture, fashion, and home to New York City.
Florida – Tourism, hospitality, theme parks, beaches; popular for internships in hospitality.
Texas – Energy, tech, and business opportunities; major cities include Houston, Austin, Dallas.
Illinois – Chicago as a major business and cultural center.
Massachusetts – Education (Harvard, MIT), biotech, healthcare.

Work & Travel Requirements

Duration of the Program

  • Duration: Up to 3 months based on your summer break, plus a 1-month grace period (for travel).

  • Travel period: You can use the grace period to travel within the USA, but cannot work during this time.

Note: Senior students can also participate, as long as they complete the visa process before graduation. Extensions are not allowed for this program.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay: $6.50 to $14.00 per hour, depending on the position.
  • Maximum working hours: Up to 40 hours per week.
  • Monthly salary: Between $1,400–$2,240 per month, depending on the position and location.

Some companies may also provide housing and/or transportation at a low cost, which will help reduce your living expenses.

Accommodation & Living Costs

  • Housing: Some employers offer affordable housing options. If not, we help you find suitable accommodation with costs ranging from $200 to $500/month depending on location.

  • Food and leisure: Estimated at $400/month for food and entertainment.

  • Insurance: Health insurance is required by the U.S. government for J-1 visa holders. Spain Internship provides insurance that meets the U.S. Department of State’s requirements. The cost of insurance is €45/month.

  • Registration Fee: €250
  • Sponsorship & Placement Fee (includes DS-2019 form):
  • 2–6 months: €1,800
  • 7–12 months: €2,200
  • Insurance Fee: €45/month
  • Transfer Fees: Additional costs for payments sent via wire transfer or other services.

Not Included:

  • U.S. government visa embassy fees ($130)

  • SEVIS Fee ($35)

  • Flights and personal expenses

  2. Skype Consultation – A meeting to discuss your program options.

  3. Register – Pay the €250 registration fee to confirm your place.

  4. Position Proposal – After consultation, we’ll send you job opportunities to choose from.

  5. Second Payment – After selecting a position, make the second payment to receive your DS-2019 form.

  6. Visa Application – Submit your visa application and SEVIS fee.

  7. Book Your Flight – Once your visa is approved, book your flight and get ready for your U.S. experience!

Cancellation & Visa Information

  • Visa Denial: If your visa is denied, a €250 cancellation fee applies.
  • Late Visa Application: If you apply after the 30-day window, an additional €500 fee will apply for expedited processing.
  • Cancellations after position confirmation: A €250 cancellation fee will be charged.

  • Lost DS Form: If you lose your DS-2019 form, an additional €400 will be charged for re-issuance.

All U.S. programs are managed through our dedicated platform Internships USA.

No. The program is for seasonal positions in fields like hospitality, tourism, and entertainment. Specialized roles like architecture or IT are not eligible for this program.

A basic level of English is enough to communicate in most positions. However, we recommend improving your English skills for better job success.

Some employers offer housing, but if not, our partner provides guidance and assistance in finding affordable accommodation.

The program duration is 3 months (based on your summer break), and extensions are not allowed. However, you can enjoy an additional 30 days to travel after your program ends.
