1. Childcare and Supervision

• Daily routines: Helping children get ready for school, preparing their meals, and ensuring they’re dressed appropriately.

• School drop-off/pick-up: Taking children to and from school or extracurricular activities.

• Bedtime routines: Assisting with evening routines such as preparing for bed, reading bedtime stories, and ensuring the children are settled for the night.

2. Homework Assistance

• Helping children with their homework or school projects, especially if the children are in primary or secondary school.

• Encouraging good study habits and providing educational support in subjects like language, math, and science.

3. Light Housework Related to Children

• Tidying up the children’s rooms and play areas.

• Doing laundry for the children, folding their clothes, and organising their personal items.

• Preparing meals or snacks for the children, and sometimes helping with family meals, depending on the arrangement with the host family.

4. Organising Fun Activities and Outings

• Planning and organising creative, educational, and recreational activities for the children (e.g., crafts, games, outdoor play).

• Accompanying the children to parks, museums, and local attractions to explore Spain.

• Organising language learning activities if the children are learning English or another language.

5. Language and Cultural Exchange

• Practising language skills with the children, such as helping them learn or improve their English (or another language).

• Sharing your own culture with the children and family, like cooking traditional meals from your home country or teaching them songs or games.

• Engaging in conversations to enhance both the intern’s and the children’s language skills.

6. Help with Social and Recreational Activities

• Organising or assisting with weekend family activities, such as trips to the beach, hiking, or cultural events.

• Attending and helping children with social gatherings or playdates.

• Supporting the children in hobbies or activities like sports, dance, or art classes.

7. Occasional Pet Care or Plant Care (Optional)

• Some Au Pair positions may include taking care of pets, walking dogs, or feeding them.

• Light garden work, such as watering plants, may also be included depending on the family.

These activities provide a well-rounded experience for the Au Pair, giving them a chance to immerse themselves in the family environment while gaining hands-on experience in childcare. The intern also gets the opportunity to improve their Spanish language skills and cultural understanding through daily interactions with the family.
